Every time I go to the gym, I see people doing crazy, pointless exercises, people pecking away at their phones, chatting up one another and generally wasting valuable time in the gym. If this is what they are wanting to do with their time, so be it, but getting in the way of others who are focused on a goal is just plain rude. Pushing out a few reps on a machine then sitting on it for minutes between sets doesn't exactly scream intensity. Chatting away with your mates whilst simply going through the motions of an exercise will not exactly produce profound results.
When I am in the gym, with or without my clients, my goal is to maximize time spent, concentrating on each exercise, one set at a time. Between sets I look like a caged animal, pacing back and forth, keeping my body active. I have my clients get up between sets and either walk around, stretch or prepare their mind for the next set. Sitting on a machine to rest not only isn't conducive to exercise, it is very inconsiderate for other members who might want to work in on the same machine you are using.
Get in the gym, focus and put in a strong effort and you will see your level of fitness increase by leaps and bounds. Just go through the motions and put in little effort? You can
expect results that are the same.
